Nice image.

I'm fairly sure it's a Parrot Waxcap Hygrocybe psittacina

Re: Communal Bird Photography Thread

Not sure if i have seen Greenshank on masse, lovely against the darks.

Sadly seems sharper on Flickr. I guess it is the wonders of the Internet playing with the electrons....

That's almost an abstract. Very clever Mark, nice one.

Re: The Calendar

I know this is old but the calendar has been fixed. The setting was wrong and would have been carried forward as incorrect with the forum software upgrade.

Re: Have you seen the new winners thread?

Sounds good - it was only a suggestion as you asked for opinions :).
I tend to use the "new posts>Get all new posts" drop down so I might miss stickies etc unless they have a new post.
As I said,...

Re: The Calendar

I agree that seems to be a limitation

I will look for a setting to change (Ian may already know), but as no one has asked about it for quite some time (obviously) I wonder what people would like...

Re: Communal Bird Photography Thread

That looks more like a Spotted Flycatcher to me Mark. A very nice bird either way.

Re: Monthly Photo Challenge - Forthcoming Themes

Personally I would find that having a short time limit AND a theme would be very restrictive; if there was a time limit to stop the regurgitation of old photos then it should be in the order of 3 to...

Re: Monthly Photo Challenge - Forthcoming Themes

I can't see how both views can be met in a single competition. Maybe the answer is to have two different challenges as AMc suggests. One that requires entries to be taken within the month and the...

Re: Monthly Photo Challenge - Forthcoming Themes

Just my pennies worth I am all in for the no time limit, as in the past I wanted to enter but could not as I could not get out to take pictures in the time frame, work in the week and at weekends the...

Re: Monthly Photo Challenge - Forthcoming Themes

TLDR - I'd prefer the time limit but I'll probably apply it to myself even if it's not a "rule".

My tupennyworth..
I participate in the photo comp at AVForums. They have a strict "this month...

Re: Monthly Photo Challenge - Forthcoming Themes

I think we need to strike a balance. This is actually a UK forum that warmly welcomes members from anywhere in the world.

Of course we should be flexible. However, it has always been the strategy...

Re: Monthly Photo Challenge - Forthcoming Themes

If the challenge was called "My archives are better than yours" then fine call it that.

If its a monthly challenge then surely its about shots taken that month - if it means we get less posts...

Re: Oly 40-150mm Pro

The 40-150 is my favourite lens and covers pretty much everything I need, if I could have only one lens it would be this (main usage of travel and landscape).

I also have the 100-400 and it is...

Re: Oly 40-150mm Pro

Yep, I agree, but it is a little short for birding shots really, even though I (try to) use it for that. It is excellent for events though. Unfortunately, for best results there is the 300 f4 lens,...

Re: Oly 40-150mm Pro

I think it's a great lens - very sharp and the TC makes no difference in IQ or focus speed to me..I find it pretty well weighted on the e-m1

Re: Oly 40-150mm Pro

I use it without the TC for gigs in big venues, where it is a winner thanks to the speed and quality. I also use it with the TC for rugby as long as the light is not too awful and it handles it...
