Re: Samyang 500mm f/8 mirror

For 300mm in bright light for hand-held shooting, I can use 75-300. If I'm feeling strong or using a 'pod, then FT 50-200 + EC-14 does the job. If you're rich and strong and light is poorer then...

Re: Trail camera recommendation...

I'm no expert, so I take neither credit nor responsibility for recommendations on that page. Glad it seems useful though. You've tempted me to try something of that sort now. But I won't for the...

Re: Dust!!!!

Thanks for brilliant advice. My E-M1 seems to need a good clean. Undoubtedly caused or worsened by an occasion when I accidentally changed a lens without turning it off.

Somewhere I read a...

Re: Trail camera recommendation...

Never heard of a trail camera. But it sounds useful. I've spent a while with E-M1 on a tripod focused on a much frequented perch in our garden, connected by Wifi to my phone with Olympus OI Share so...

Re: ýve joined the e5 camera club

In fact, oddly, this seller seems to part with a lot of old Oly gear including 3 E5s in recent months.

Re: FW Update 12-50mm lens to Version 1.4

If you click on the tab labelled "Products of Olympus" (within the "standard zoom" heading) it lists 5 current lenses (12-40 f2.8 Pro, 12-100 f4 Pro, 14-42 EZ, 14-42 II R & 14-150 II). If you click...

Re: FW Update 12-50mm lens to Version 1.4

You're right. Olympus list it as current, here: https://www.olympus.co.uk/site/en/c/lenses/om_d_pen_lenses/m_zuiko/m_zuiko_digital_ed_12_50mm_13563ez/index.html

But oddly, this site (which is...

Samyang 500mm f/8 mirror

This is cheap as chips and lightweight compared to anything with even remotely comparable focal lengths. I know it's MF only; I know bokeh can be odd ... but is it any good? Or just a gimmicky...

Re: BLN-1 Replacement

I was wondering the same. Is it worth paying extra for Oly originals?

Also do they wear down over time? Some of my older ones (provided with used camera) seem to flatten quite quickly.

Re: About to buy a Pen-F

It helps enormously, thank you.

(I wonder if there's a way of copying / moving your piece to the Tutorials section of the forum so it can be found more easily in the future.)

Re: Bamburgh Castle

I like the seaweed. Someone in our photographic club has an image of this from a similar viewpoint and angle, but she has a sandcastle instead of seaweed.

Re: About to buy a Pen-F

Wow - thanks so much - that's amazing. I was hoping someone might know of a link to this information, not actually write an article. I'll peruse in detail when I get chance.

Re: About to buy a Pen-F

Thanks. Does this setting in the menus (E-M1 shooting menu 2 / Anti-Shock / 0 seconds) make a difference only when the diamond shutter mode is selected (e.g. using the SCP)? I've always been using...

Re: Tough Call

As well as being weather-sealed, E-M1 has better grip, and more sophisticated AF (intelligent selection of PDAF or CDAF depending on context) compared to E-M10 II. I think E-M10 II lets you use...

Wrong thread to ask that question I suppose ... it was a sort of stream of consciousness.

Re: About to buy a Pen-F

I've done this on my E-M1 on advice from various sources, but have no real idea why, as I don't really understand what's going on, and don't really know what shutter shock is, and under what...

Re: ýve joined the e5 camera club

Slight tangent, but does the E5 offer any advantages over the E-M1 (for an enthusiastic user of FT glass like me)? Obviously sensors have improved over the years, and E-M1 offers lots more features...

The facial image is stone. The pulpit is carved wood. Dust is very possible in such a place.

The green reflections really spoil this image. :-(
