Thank you, definitely worth a visit, don't leave it too late in afternoon as sun goes behind mountain after 2pm atm and then this area is in shade.

Ah ok its the moonlight back lighting then, all depends on the look you want, but I would have waited until the moon was side lighting the rose, to get more definition in the shadows etc otherwise...

For number 2, I wouldn't use macro mode, better off using aperture mode and selecting the f stop for the depth of field you want, also use manual focus, only in manual can you get the lens to extend...
