Re: Bathtime

Mark, as I said over the phone and looking at some of the other replies here, I consider it wise to update the firmware to the latest version. Some bugs / inconsistencies have been fixed and the...

Re: Bathtime

Those are beautifully sharp Mark. I am looking at them on my iPhone on the train on my way home from work. What lens were you using?

Re: Carshow

The FB Holdens were built under licence in South Africa. My father had one. It was great for going up hills, but wasn't quite so good at going around corners. They kept producing them right up...

Re: Carshow

In the UK, "Holdens" are called "Vauxhalls". In Europe, they are called "Opels", whereas in North America they are called "Chevrolets".

Re: Carshow

"Where's ya bin?" - Now that is a touchy one. Extract from my war diary (names have been removed, except for mine):

"Sunday 11th March 1984

Lt Griffiths, L/Cpl WH and 8 x Assault Pioneers went...

Re: Carshow

Mark,

This was our battle wagon: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buffel

It was based on a Mercedes Benz Unimog and was great for protection against landmines, but rolled over quite easily.

Re: Carshow

Great pics Mark. Lots of Holdens and other GM cars, but not much else that I can see. Was it a GM / GMH get-together?

I like that teardrop camper, but it just a bit too frilly for me. I am...

Re: Slide Scanner.

When I decided to scan in all my old slides, I bought a PlusTek OpticFilm 8200i 35mm slide scanner. It worked very well. As I said elsewhere, I still have a few slides to scan and so I must check...

Re: Best practice external hard drives

My father died in February 2012 and that started me looking back. I bought a slide scanner and started digitising my old slides. I scanned about 2/3 of them before I was interrupted by a trip back...

Re: Best practice external hard drives

I used to keep all my old photos in a mixture of albums, shoe boxes and envelopes which were in storage below a bench at the side of my bed room. Then, in January 1985, our house was flooded and all...

Re: Best practice external hard drives

Mike,

You are in a similar position to where I was when my 2TB drives started to fill up. I replaced them with 4TB drives , copied all the files to the 4TB drives and turned the 2TB drives into...

Re: Rhos Cefn Bryn Pano

Like Aussie Mark, I was also drawn to it by its simplicity and just sat back and enjoyed the scene. I didn't even notice the sign. But his comment about the sign reminded me of trying to decipher...

Re: South Bank....

Thanks Keith. That combo has become my "go everywhere with me combo" and lives in my back pack. It is just so versatile.

Thanks. Brisbane does appear to be morphing from a large regional town...

Re: New Olympus OMD - EM1X ?

On Friday evening 22nd Feb, I had the opportunity to play with the E-M1X when Olympus Australia and Dragon Photo put on an "OM-D E-M1X Hands-On" event in Brisbane.

It was a lot lighter than I...

Re: Benalla Camera Club Picnic

Great photos Mark. *chr

As I have said to the Mark (who took the photos), the Benalla crowd are just a bit more sophisticated than those in Wangaratta. ;)

I would have to say that. - I used to...

Re: New 12-200

The 12-200 is going for the equivalent of about 685 in Australia at present, while the 12-100 is going for about 773. These aren't even grey market lenses, but official imports. Even at those...

Re: New 12-200

Agreed! The 14-150mm is a bit of a compromise and I expect that the 12-200mm would be even more so. The 12-100mm is nowhere near as much of a compromise as I was expecting but, since it is labelled...
