Re: A Difficult Session with a Pseudoscorpion

Thanks, Alf.

We have been in this house 21 years and I have seen three. The good news is that I have seen them at the front of the front garden and at the very rear of the back garden, giving lots...

Re: Landscape-esque

Steve, I thought you might like this quote, by American photographer Andri Cauldwell, which I came across today: "To see in colour is a delight for the eye but to see in black and white is a delight...

Re: Widows and pipes

A well spotted opportunity, beautifully photographed. I do like this type of subject, especially when it is done as well as this. :)

Re: Widows and pipes

That's a strong, geometric image Alf. I like it. From the thread title I was expecting it to be something to do with Scottish Widows. Maybe that sultry lady in a black, hooded cape. :)

Re: February Challenge: Portrait

Irony or not, its still a hard choice even with three votes.

Alfbranch, if you want to load up you entry so that we can see it without going out on that link, its fine by the rules I reckon. Or...

Re: Tewet tarn cold morning mono

Only just spotted this comment. Cropped as Graham suggested is nice but it would loose the reeds in the foreground which I think would be a shame. I prefer it with the reeds.

Re: Parton beach sunset

Superb as always Alf. Actually I think I prefer the first one especially if I crop some of the foreground to put more emphasis on the middle distance and the background scenery.

Another vote for the second one. Love the front to back focus on it.

Re: Parton beach sunset

Both nice, Alf, but it's No2 for me as well, I like the cooler tones and that it's a much calmer scene.

Re: Castlerigg stone circle in snow

Agree with all the above. Great images. the first is my fave for compositional reasons and because more colour in the stones and more contrast in the mountains..

Re: Castlerigg stone circle in snow

First and last for me too Alf and I also think a letterbox crop would work well, good shout Chris.

Re: Castlerigg stone circle in snow

I prefer the first (based on your position w.r.t. the circle) and the last because of the sky.

In both cases I think they might look even better as letter-box format with the top 50% of the sky...

Re: Castlerigg stone circle in snow

If I came across a sky like that, I'd go and buy a lottery ticket. ;)

Really like the whole look of those pictures.

Re: Castlerigg stone circle in snow

Alf, I think you have excelled yourself with #1 (Castlerigg Snow). I like the stone circle and the overall composition; the snowy conditions give it that little bit extra. I also like the mountains...

Re: Tewet tarn cold morning mono

I have to say I prefer the cropped version - seems more dramatic

Re: Tewet tarn cold morning mono

Your original is very close to being a "Golden Rectangle" and with a very small crop, could put the tree spot on the origin of the spiral.

Re: Communal Dragonfly, Butterfly and Insect photo thread

I could be wrong but that is the common species in my garden and I have taken similar shots.
