Re: REDEX Fuel Additives Half Price at Tesco

Have you seen the price of it lately?

I used to use Vpower Diesel by default, but Shell now charges around 20 pence a litre on top of their regular diesel price, or 15 extra for a tankful! ...

Re: New Licence anyone...??

Government today has to cater for the lowest common denominator, and for the utterly clueless. Believe me there are a lot of them about, many with modern degrees in worthless subjects!

It might...

Re: New Licence anyone...??

A driverless car will almost certainly need to be 'programmed' by the driver in much the same way that the autopilot on an aircraft must also be programmed with course, cruising altitude, coordinates...

Re: New Licence anyone...??

We routinely kill eight or nine people a day on our roads in the UK (3,000 a year), and maim many more. These figures have improved significantly over the past twenty years or so owing to the...

Re: Tina's New M5 Mkii +12-40mm PRO (1st images)

For sure Fuji Provia and Velvia are my favourites for colour, or FP4+ for black and white. The quality achievable from these films in medium format, and especially at 6 x 7 is just sublime. HP5+ also...

Re: Beach Volleyball

The Italians are very good at that, but it stops as soon as the Red Card comes out for their opponent! *yes

Re: Food Prices 2008

I take your point Peter, and I am pleased to say that we support both of these establishments.

The Kipper shop in Whitby is also well worth a visit.

However, my point was that every High...

Re: Beach Volleyball

I agree. I enjoy watching the women's football, and rugby.

Much more entertaining than the men. ;)

Re: Food Prices 2008

Nice colourful shot, and a real Greengrocers store too!

Not many of those around today thanks to the evil supermarkets mentioned by Walti.

Do you remember the High Street Fishmongers, and...

Re: Tina's New M5 Mkii +12-40mm PRO (1st images)

I don't really need ND filters with 50 ASA transparency film, but ND Grad filters need a very steady hand. :)

Re: Tina's New M5 Mkii +12-40mm PRO (1st images)

Indeed. But I also like to use ND grads, which are best used on a tripod mounted camera.

Added to which, A Mamiya RZ is quite a heavy beast to hold level. *yes

Re: Tina's New M5 Mkii +12-40mm PRO (1st images)

Fair point Mark. But for landscapes I personally like to use a tripod, ideally with a large waist level finder. :)

You cannot beat them for composition.

Re: Burglar (dead) flowers laid opposite victims house he broke into

The police here in Co Durham had a purge on uninsured cars a few years ago, I think with sponsorship from Aviva or one of the big insurance companies.

The majority of offending vehicles were...

Re: Burglar (dead) flowers laid opposite victims house he broke into

There is also the fear of the 'race card' and the ECHR; both of which have been used before.

Plod finds it much safer to persecute otherwise law abiding car drivers for exceeding speed...

Re: Burglar (dead) flowers laid opposite victims house he broke into

This may well explain why the residents feel intimidated by those leaving the floral tributes, and those rivals removing them.

Unfortunately the police seem unwilling to tackle this particular...

Re: Tina's New M5 Mkii +12-40mm PRO (1st images)

I am impressed by what I have seen so far, but how does the E-M5 Mk II compare with the E-M1 Mk II?

The EM-1 Mk 1 was aimed more at professional users. Is this still the case with the E-M1 Mk II?

Re: OM-D E-M5 II - User opinions sought please

I would suggest buying a N*k*n lens cap or one for another cheap brand and keep the Olympus lens cap somewhere safe.

Re: Tina's New M5 Mkii +12-40mm PRO (1st images)

That is impressive for 1/13 second at ISO 1600!

I would be very interested to see how clean the images are at even higher speeds/longer exposures as that has always been a weakness of 43 systems.

I feel your pain!

Out of interest, what ISO speed was used for the night time images?

Re: Tina's New M5 Mkii +12-40mm PRO (1st images)

I am impressed. The images are very good overall, with good shadow detail in poor light, but the blacks are particularly clean and impressive.

Re: Burglar (dead) flowers laid opposite victims house he broke into

The deceased may not have been a 'murderer' per se, but he allegedly assaulted the elderly householder with a screwdriver, which could be just as dangerous as a knife. Whatever the weapon the...

Re: OM-D E-M5 II - User opinions sought please

Both my lens hood and lens cap fell apart too. I understand this is a common problem, and they are very expensive parts for what they are!

Olympus replaced mine FOC under warranty, but I now use...
