Re: Laowa 7.5mm f2.0

I use one of these: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Dorr-20x20cm-Novoflex-Small-Camera/dp/B000NDAXEC/ref=sr_1_3?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1540331275&sr=1-3&keywords=Novoflex+camera+wrap

Re: Bearded Tit

Excellent images of a lovely bird.

An old friend of mine, who’s a keen birder, jogger and looks a bit like a thinner and younger version of Brian Blessed, was on an early morning footpath run...

Re: 17mm f1.2

Yes, I certainly wouldn’t cough up that much without a good reason!

Eyelash-thin dof in portraits is another of those features pursued obsessively by a certain brand of photographer which usually...

Re: "NOISE!" (revised) by Terry Lane.

Undoubtedly the right decision, Ross!

He probably gets wound up a treat as it is by all those lonely, angry young North American men who troll away on dpreview. He’s got the sort of personality...

Re: 17mm f1.2

It gives you more control over dof: there are plenty of situations in street photography when you want sufficient dof to keep one person in focus, but isolate them as far as possible from the...

Re: "NOISE!" (revised) by Terry Lane.

Yes, he's a good voice of reason, with some good-practice tips.

Bearing in mind how the comparisons are done on photonstophotos.com, however, which I believe take account of optimising the...

Re: Laowa 7.5mm f2.0

Yes, I've kept the 7-14 f2.8 as well as the Laowa - I love using the biggie when I'm specifically going to do landscape or architectural shooting, especially from a car, while the 7.5 slips unnoticed...

Re: Communal Bird Photography Thread

I love Bitterns: from many angles when flying it looks like they're going backwards

Re: Fish-eye and De-fish

That's really good, especially considering the cost of admission.

I'm looking forward to seeing what the new range of Laowa ultrawide and FE lenses for MFT can do. Their 7.5mm has extremely low...

Re: Rock for ID?

I'm no geologist, but it does look like quartz to me, especially the way the minerals in the rocks above and below have stained it and the way it seems to be arranged in an overall rough crystalline...

Re: Nik Software

Dave - I believe to get Nik working on the latest Apple operating system & hardware you need to pay for the upgrade (or so my Apple-toting friends tell me, if I understood them correctly).

It all...

Re: F1.2 pro glass

Yes, the 30mm is also a good competitor to the Pan-Leica 25mm f1.4, being also a lot cheaper (although it is certainly a lot bigger as well).

Re: Windows 10 Latest Release Pulled by Microsoft

Looks like it's back on line: mine updated this morning (after I had saved multiple copies of Documents & Pictures both on and off line) and it's running fine with no deletions.

One immediately...

Re: Using the P mode?

Parr's excellent - President of Magnum and a great supporter of young photographers. I heard him speak at that Sony awards: he'd received the Lifetime Award or some such.

Very entertaining and...

Re: The QUEEN VICTORIA BUILDING Sydney

There are some lovely images there.
My only other comment is that it's a shame the first is populated by people in modern dress - it needs a few gents in top hats and ladies in bussles :D

Re: The beginning of Autumn

2 and 3 for me. Excellent.
I think I might have cropped 5% off the bottom of no. 2 if it were mine, but I suspect others would say that little bit of space anchors the image.

Re: More from Photokina

Yes, I agree. Image quality of the 4mm will be crucial so it'll be interesting to see some independent reviews.

I think the 10-25 is really a video lens.

Laowa are great: they had a lovely...

Re: More from Photokina

Yes, the Panny weight demo makes the point, but is very vulnerable to further criticisms, too.

Not only the geeky rathole about 'equivalence' (which I'm not going near), but more significantly...

Re: Lens service advice/experience?

Great, they have a sale.

I used something similar when I had various British sports cars with early electric windows (e.g. 1972 Lotus Elan +2) where the door motors weren't powerful enough to...

I can't tell what you mean by that and whether you're being serious or ironic, but since it is likely to result in a return to violence and murder of innocent human beings, who additionally happen to...

Re: Architectural Photography Awards 2018

A nice set of images.
They don't seem to hang them anywhere except at the show in Amsterdam - a shame, since seeing this sort of detailed image in the flesh is always worthwhile.
