Re: The Photography Show: other new gear

Someone posted on DPReveiew that LCE are doing a G9 deal - Body plus 12-60 f2.8-4 plus 200mm f2.8 + TC for 2299. That's quite a deal. I'm not interested, but that 200mm f2.8 is tasty and is 1500...

Re: Bit Rot

Thanks for the post Steve - interesting article. Certainly makes me consider NAND Flash (SD cards) are suitable only for short-term transfer of images. Of course, SSDs use NAND Flash too, but I...

Re: Millennial Snowflake Burnout?

To be fair to John, he apologised quickly and admitted that his behaviour was ladish and unacceptable. We all make mistakes sometimes - what matters is that we admit and atone for them.

John is...

Re: My latest foray into FF mirrorless - and why I'm sticking with m43

OK, maybe a bit of explanation is needed...

1) Stacking of images with the same exposure to reduce noise

When you stack multiple images of the same exposure, you blend them such that each...

Re: My latest foray into FF mirrorless - and why I'm sticking with m43

BTW - this is a good post on stacking:

Re: My latest foray into FF mirrorless - and why I'm sticking with m43

Indeed. That will do the trick. Noise will be reduced quite significantly - but I realise I made a mistake on the original post. The ISO will be lowered by 1/2 for each image stacked - so by...

Re: E-M1 ii & 12-40 for 850

Dodgy not the word. Fraud is the better choice. Don't pay outside of PayPal unless you want to lose your money. I think you should report it to Paypal.

Re: Photoshop Ai enhanced RAW

I've tried it on a number of images - 16 and 20 Mp m43 imagess and also from a few other cameras like the Fuji xe1 and Sony A7rii and have failed to see any difference at all.

Re: Lazy camera store

You can't go wrong with the 17/1.8, or the Panasonic 15/1.7 or even the Panasonic 20/1.7. The little Panasonic 12-32 is excellent too and very compact.

Of course, for the real Leica experience,...

Re: E-M1X thoughts and excellent Dave Etchells video

It's at least four years ago that I heard the rumours of organic sensors. I'm wondering if they'll make it into a camera before I'm in a wooden box!

Really, the only thing stopping a BSI m43...
