FastStone Image Viewer finally supports monitor profiles

Whoo hooo, lucky version 7 *chr I've been waiting for years for FastStone, my favourite Windows image browser to support monitor profiles, so full colour management. It's had partial colour management for a while.

I've had to switch to sRGB mode on my wide gamut monitors to use it up to now, or use FastPictureViewer that has always been fully colour-managed. The latter is great for culling, as it deletes Raw+JPG as one, but I prefer the UI of FastStone, and its on-screen sharpening is excellent on reduced sizes.

I've used it for years, so sent them another donation.

Thanks for letting us know about this update. I love both of those programs. I have asked him to consider adding the option of jpg and raw to delete together. Also sent another donation - well worth it.

Good idea Andy, though not sure how it would work, as FastStone is more like Windows Explorer when it comes to file management, being manual and clear-cut. It does what you ask it to do. FastPictureViewer has no hierarchical file view, and shows the Raw and JPG as one, so easier to implement there.

Faststone works OK on my Linux laptop using 'Wine'.

Having been using it for years. as with you, sent many donations to keep them churning out updates. Wonder when they will come up with a dropper for WB corrections ;)

Yes, I'd like that. I thought that it might be there, but I couldn't find it.

Good news on the full colour management. FastStone has been my main image-culler at the beginning of my workflow for some years: it meets all my requirements that would otherwise need 150 quid spent on Photo Mechanic.

I haven’t found anything better for speedy culling through several thousand images from a day’s sports or active wildlife shooting. You can’t be too perfectionist on critical focus since the embedded jpeg won’t stand it, but you can judge composition, exposure and basic focus very well, and flick to and fro instantly.

For image viewing I’ve been using Windows Photo Viewer, which is corrected, but it’ll be good to have the extra capabilities of FS.

I’ll update and give another donation.
