My 12-40 Pro lens hood modification.

Others have mentioned the 'less than ideal' arrangement for the lens hood on the 12-40 Pro lens & I have also been affected by its unfortunate design as it starts to come off the lens while lifting it out of my bag, so I decided to attack it to solve the problem. *smash

This is the 'parking' side release, as normal.

But the side for use has now been made safer so it doesn't release the hood when it isn't supposed to (hopefully).

A belt sander followed by careful carving knife (or scapel) use makes a difference! :D
I know, I could have been more careful.

I really think Olympus should have modified this hood so the release buttons are flush with the hood outside diameter, so inadvertent release doesn't occur.

Never had a problem with this lens hood. I usually leave it on, and don't bother with the parked position.

Brave man.....*chr

I try to leave it on all the time too, but it wants do otherwise sometimes though, so this should help. *yes

It takes up too much room unless it is reversed. A sliding solution like the 40-150 Pro maybe?......................OK, let's not go there

Good idea.....

In my Amazon sling bag, leaving the hood in its forward position, comfortably takes up the space nicely, and no bashing around....

Took me several months to work out the sliding hood on the 40-150mm Pro..*chr

I left mine on my 12 40 lens when it was given a free clean at the photography show. I was told on my return it had been repaired!
I did not know it was faulty but I do find it stays on a lot more securely now.
