15th Challenge - The Great Outdoors...

Hiya

As spring is on it's way (hopefully), it should provide a chance to get out and about and hopefully the weather will respect this months competition title :p

The title this month is ... The Great Outdoors
Make of it what you wish, I'm hoping it'll be wide enough a subject matter that it'll give scope to everyone to adapt to their chosen style of photography.

Could this be made a sticky please? and any chance the old competitions be taken off stickies as it can get confusing trying to locate the latest challenge
Ta :)

The Rules

1. Photos should be taken (dated in EXIF) between now 30 mins past midnight Tue 3rd March - and midnight Saturday 21st March and sent in during that period. Photos will be posted in the gallery on Sunday 22nd March and voting will be completed by midnight Saturday 28th March.

2. You must be the photographer who created the picture in order to enter the challenge, and all entries must be visibly anonymous and should be sent to the challenge organiser. You must indicate (a) your real name and (b) your e-group forum name in the email. Any entries that are not clearly identifiable and verifiable won't be entered into the challenge.

3. Entries to the challenge :-

a. Should contain no watermarks, distinguishing effects and no borders
b. Must be jpg format and no more than 800 px on the longest edge
c. Must have been taken on an Olympus E-Series camera
d. Must have all EXIF data included for the organiser to verify.
e. Max file size to suit the gallery here is 512kb.

4. You need to be registered on e-group.uk.net forums to qualify for entry into the challenge. The organiser may also enter the challenge (the entries are anonymous and the organiser is trusted to record votes accurately).

5. Only one entry permitted per challenge please. But if you want to withdraw an entry or replace it with another that's OK, you must make it clear in an email to the challenge organiser before the closing date, also ensure the email contains clear instructions and (if required) your replacement picture.

6. Voting on the challenge:-

a. Any registered member of the e-group forum may vote including those who submit entries.
b. Those who submit entries may vote for their own photo but are expected to allot their choices fairly on perceived merit.
c. Voters should list their three choices in order of preference, by display number and title to avoid confusion.
d. Points will be allotted as follows: three to first choice, two to second choice, one to third choice.

Pictures to be included in this 15th Challenge must arrive in my inbox before midnight on 21st March.

Please send your entries to susan@daydesigns.co.uk and include the word OLYMPUS in the title.

Wishing everyone the best of luck, have fun!

Susan

Good one Susan. That should be a broad enough theme to get loads and loads of entries.

Just thought I'd push this up the board as it hasn't been made a sticky yet.

Yeahbut, Susan's biased the comp. to favour her neck of the woods - they've got bigger and better 'Great Oudoors' up there! They've got Ben Lomond (a stone's throw away from Stirling) at 3,200 ft , while the best I can do is the pimple of Coombe Hill at 852.

i was thinking along those lines too Jim and had hopped to get up Goatfell this week with the bright weather for a shot but this horrid haze about on the west coast and uni have got in the way. Still ill have to find something troon has to offer for the closing date

I was on Arran yesterday, Tuesday 18/03/09, and the "horrid haze" wasn't much of a problem.

Wow you certainly got a cracking day! Lovely shot i havent has the chance to explore outwith goatfell and the saddle yet this year. Ive not seen arran for three days from troon, the edge of irvine bay is about as far as can be seen today, even the campsies were shrouded today heading home from uni.

The air has been too hazy to see Arran from the mainland but from Ben Nuis, where the shot was taken, to Goatfell, the distant hill in the picture, is only 1 mile so it was quite visible during the breaks in the cloud.

See, that's what us Southerners are up against. LIke I said, you've got bigger and better 'Great Outdoors' up there!
