By way of a "test", just see if you can access this image and download it.

It's an ORF from a group outing to East London.

I can see it and download the ORF, so this "Hosting" would work for anyone with a DropBox account.

I can download both after clicking on the link and then clicking download-direct from withing dropbox and I don't have a dropbox account.

Both ORF fles open in OV3 however Elements 12 does not support The E-M1 Mk II so it will not open the church ORF.

[QUOTE=wornish;432593]Just had a play using PS, Masked exposure adjustments then lots of curve adjustments brushed on specific areas and then used MacPhun-Noiseless to reduce noise as final step before resizing.
The image has such a high dynamic range and lots of shadows its pushing the sensor to the limit. Kept me occupied for a while. Not sure if its a big improvement.

Verticals need adjustment..................*chr

But system works as did Grahams..:-)

Whilst you don't need a Dropbox account to download, you obviously need Dropbox to upload. Bu there are other cloud systems, maybe Flickr or similar.........

Very valid point. Surely any image uploaded to a forum falls under the same umbrella? However in the interests of civil litigation a rules page should be attached to the thread. Out of curiousity would a professional who relies on reward from photos as their sole profession consider uploading a copyrighted image?

Copyright will remain with the photographer.

Back in the days of film, photographers often worked with professional printers and finishers and there was even an annual award for Photo Printer of the Year.

So as long as due credit is given, I see no problem with "collaborative" images being produced.

Use the edited images, would need to be agreed by both parties.

However there are restrictions on the use of such images within organisations such as the PAGB, where "Images must be entirely the work of the Photographer. Composite images are permitted provided all component images meet this requirement."

Anyone interested in joining in on an editing "contest" might like to suggest how the winner is selected and how often the contest runs for...

Thought this was meant to be a fun site get the feeling concerns over copyright issues seem more important. So be it, post will be deleted for fear of infringement and subsequent legislation.

Yes Dave, we are only doing it for fun. But I think the implications need to be mentioned, just once so all understand.........I hope..:)

Agree re discussing potential issues as early as possible, I class myself as an enthusiast therefore have no preservations in relation to copyright, its all about the enjoyment. If someone manges to improve one of my shots its a win win situation for everyone in my eyes. Really hope we can make this work. Would life be easier with no copyrighted images allowed.

I agree it just seemed to be taking over the whole discussion. I will leave it at that and look forward to seeing and learning what people can do.

I've asked "Timboo" to provide me with a link to a RAW file so that I can set up as a new thread into which your edited copies of the image can be posted.

For the first time I think a cut-off date of the 24th of December to submit entries will give you all enough time to play with ideas and develop your edits.

Unless anyone comes up with a way of deciding the "best" edit, we can just have the thread run as a "Show-n-Tell" of how and why the finished image was produced.
