Graham, they are actually specialist crisis planners. (Military logistics people?) Which perhaps makes more sense than one would think. If there is a problem with supply of vital stuff, it's probably beyond the capacity of normal everyday management, particularly in a city the size of London.

Oh, I don't know! In the press this morning, it says that one Nigel Garage is trying to return to front line politics to upset Mrs May's applecart regarding the Chequers Plan. My suspicion is that EU officials are perfectly capable of doing that without Nigel's help! ;)

You lot are boring now. I was hoping we'd get back to a good old 'up and downer'!

Nigel Farage tweeted that the British Medical Association warning of the dangers of Brexit for the NHS was a “disgrace”.

This NHS doctor’s reply to him on Twitter has gone viral (>20K likes). Read the text here:

“Disgraceful is an NHS hospice forced to close a *third* of its beds because some its nurses - wonderful, extraordinarily kind individuals - feel so unwelcome now in Britain they have been driven home to Spain, Portugal, Italy etc. 2/n

Disgraceful is the racism, abuse & hate unleashed by your foul & toxic referendum campaign - and, in particular, the racism towards EU staff we have witnessed, post referendum, in my own NHS hospital. 3/n

Disgraceful is dying patients trapped in their homes, in desperate need of an NHS hospice bed, who I cannot treat - because the beds are closed - because EU nurses have been driven away by post-Brexit hate. 4/n

Disgraceful is having to look a World War Two veteran in the eyes, as he weeps and trembles with relief that at last - at last - a hospice bed became available for his dying, desperate wife. 5/n

Disgraceful is an NHS *already* short of 40k nurses and 10k doctors, yet haemorrhaging more daily thanks to the hateful impact of Brexit. 6/n

Disgraceful is the staggering - and sustained - 96% reduction in applications to the NHS from EU nurses since the referendum. 7/n

Disgraceful is people like you whipping up the hate that has caused all this misery - then trolling doctors like me who bear witness to its horrible, inhumane fallout, every day at work. 8/n

So, Mr Farage, next time you talk about disgrace, and seek to denigrate doctors like me, wash your mouth out and wind your neck in. 9/n

Because patients are vulnerable - so incredibly vulnerable. And if you really were a man of the people, as opposed to the racist demagogue you are, you would show some goddamn humility about the human cost of what you’ve done. 10/10 ends

And incidentally, @Nigel_Farage, if you want to debate the facts pertaining to Brexit and the NHS, please invite me onto your show to do so, rather than making ad hominem attacks on my profession. @LBC”

What happens if they manage to get another referendum and the Leavers win again? Best of five?

Irrespective of views on Brexit, what happened to democracy?

Off out for the afternoon now......... peeps round door.....

Sadly, an awful lot of people do (or did) take Farage seriously and that's why we're in this mess.

I agree and have amended the original post to "Leavers." I'm sure no harm was intended but it is important that we respect the views of others that are different from our own.

You won't find a greater Remain supporter than myself. But I've said before, that the result of the vote has to be honoured, so the British Public can experience first hand just what misery they voted for.

It's a bit like the method to put children off smoking. If they were caught smoking it was said that the best way to cure them was to make them smoke a pack of Capstan Full Strength - they'd never smoke another cigarette after that.

Let Brexit happen, then run the vote again aftr 10 years and then see how many people vote leave!

I'm sorry Jim, but why put the nation through all the misery and needless expense now that so many people appear to be changing their minds? Cutting off the nose to spite the face seems somewhat pointless. In ten years' time the demographic will have changed anyway with more of today's young people (who tend to be remainers) and fewer of today's old people (who mostly voted leave) so the will of the people (sic) will probably be firmly remain. Always assuming there is still an EU to remain in of course ;).

If a majority of the people now want to have another vote, what price democracy if they're not allowed to have one?

I'm attending Moorfields Eye Hospital late next month and will be seeing several nurses. They will undoubtedly be all foreign. I usually chat to them and this time I'll conduct a straw poll and ask them if they've met hostility since the vote, and if they're considering returning.

To overturn the original vote now would be anything but democratic but no doubt satisfy the demands of the losers.

I agree - there has to be a post leave spell of 'You voted for this, so stop whining and suck it up!', for the public to be brought to their senses. I believe it's the only way to put to bed the Brexit nonsense!

 Sadly, this proves beyond a shadow of doubt, just how easy it is for one 'bad apple' to rot the contents of the barrel. Unfortunately, we seem to have more than our fair share in high places that go into a feeding frenzy where a sneeze becomes responsible for a force 10 gale.

I recently noticed an advert by 'Factbook' that fake news etc., isn't our friend. If true, then why didn't they clamp down from day one? I wonder if the mass exodus of people deserting - OOPS! - had something to do with the about face? *yes

The vote was over two years ago John, a lot has changed since then. By your logic once a General Election has been held it would be undemocratic to hold another one if circumstances changed. I am well aware of how a Democratic Society works, thank you, and there is nothing undemocratic about holding another vote - quite the contrary in fact. Were the original vote held a week ago I might agree with you, but a significant period has elapsed during which many lies have been exposed and facts revealed.

Let me ask you a straightforward question: what do you consider you will personally gain from the UK's departure from the EU?

Every day there is more information coming out about the damage leaving will likely do to this country so why do you not take notice of that? Information from groups and individuals who have no particular political axe to grind so there's no reason to believe they aren't telling the truth. I believe that you, like me, are a pensioner so what difference is leaving going to make to the remainder of your life, and why do you want to risk adversely affecting the lives of the younger generations who, by a significant majority, are staunch remainers?

But we haven't left yet and carried out the peoples wishes. Its like saying we can have an election then before the winning party forms a government have another one. Once we leave then I have no issue with whatever government holding a new referendum to rejoin after a few years.
