IS on legacy lenses

I'm still getting to grips with the IS on my new camera, as far as I can figure, if you use it when the camera is already steady it'll give you some blur, so take the shot you want, if it's blurry from movement then switch IS on and it'll try and smooth things out.

Question is, when using manual lenses (got a nice fast 50mm I like using), what number do you dial in? the 50mm printed on the lens or 100mm allowing for the crop factor?

The 50mm printed on the lens.

The focal length of a lens is independent of the format it used on.
