December 2017 Monthly Challenge....Christmas Theme -- time restricted

To enter simply post your picture in this thread between now and Sunday 31st December. There will then be a two week voting period during which all members (not just those who have entered the competition) will be encouraged to vote for their favourite by using the 'Like' button. 1st, 2nd & 3rd places will be allocated and these will ultimately count towards the title of E-System User Photographer of the Year. However, do bear in mind that each monthly round is a separate competition in its own right and you can enter as many or as few rounds as you wish.

PLEASE DO NOT VOTE (USE THE 'LIKE' BUTTON) BEFORE THE COMPETITION HAS ENDED AND THE VOTING PERIOD BEGUN ON 1st JANUARY 2018

We'll try to keep the rules simple, but we must have a few:-

1) Enter one picture only

2) All entries must have been taken on an Olympus E-System body (Four Thirds or Micro Four Thirds), a non-Olympus body but using an Olympus Zuiko E-System lens or an Olympus digital compact such as the XZ-1.

3) One vote per member, please. You do not need to enter the competition in order to vote.

4) If you vote for more than one picture none of your votes will count.

5) You can change your mind at any time during the voting period simply by removing your original like before allocating it to your new choice.

6) This months photos are time restricted to December 2017. Photos must have EXIF data available.

I think I have covered everything but please do let me know if I have missed anything.

Now, let's see lots of entries and good luck to all those who participate!

Just a note to the "Likers" here....

Unless you have made up your mind that your liked photo is going to be the best, even if you have not seen all of the Challenge photos, then just to remind all that a Like is a vote......not just an appreciation of a photo.

Can be "Unliked" as well.

Happy snaping for the Christmas Challenge............*chr

MJ, Don't you think the 2 week voting rule rather takes the urgency out of things? The old rule = give someone too long to make up their mind and they never will!

Re: December 2017 Monthly Challenge....Christmas Theme -- time restricted

Yes perhaps, but I think we want to as inclusive as possible. Not sure if a week is any better, we are not all on here all of the time

Any further thoughts???????

Hi,

Wow ... fame at last!

Thank you for taking the time to vote for my singer at our local steam railway event and for some encouraging posts earlier today.

The real stars of the shot were the singer and the little Olympus 45mm f1.8 which is great for this sort of shot. My input was to try to shoot through a gap in the surrounding crowd and exclude as many distractions as possible.

You've fired my enthusiasm so I had better start thinking of something for this months 'Weird and Wacky' challenge.

Cheers :)

Chris

Blu - your were going to have my vote, for the sheer off-beat of the shot - until Chris's came along. But still like the atmospherics*chr

Re: December 2017 Monthly Challenge....Christmas Theme -- time restricted

Thank you those who voted and griffjb, iso, mj224, blu-by-u and OM USer for your your encouraging comments.

The star is really the little Olympus 45mm f1.8 that wide open can make almost any portrait a 'cracker'.

Its definitely should be your 'first purchase' or 'must have lens' after whatever standard lens or zoom you use.

Thanks again.

Chris
