Even Adobe want to kill it and will by 2020 (!)

I've finally rid my systems of Flash so I won't be reading this. Pity.

Despite using flash (Why??), this is a marvelous mag - great pics.

Hello!

So far, Joomag is the best platform for a magazine, because it has every tool needed to manage it. I have been assured by Joomag's customer service that they will switch to HTML5. I haven't been told when, but I assume I am not the only one who asked about this.

Another option to read the magazine is to look for it on the ISSUU platform as I am not allowed to place links in my post.

Being an independent project, I will need some time to get funds for a dedicated website as it deserves.

Meanwhile, I thank you for reading it and I welcome any feedback concerning the magazine at olyvisionmag[at]gmail[dot]com.

Last, but not least you can join the Readers' Group on Facebook.

All the best from Iasi, Romania!

I had a quick flick through it last night on my laptop but it can't be viewed on my iPad though (in bed).

Great to see the new magazine and there are some superb shots. Very inspiring. I have but one niggle ... I hate the black pages! Any chance a more conventional white "paper"?

I took a look using the ISSUU link. I quite enjoyed the magazine. The African story was very interesting.

Hi!

I apreciate your feedback and it is great to hear you enjoyed the magazine's content.

@Clockwork Donkey It is a good point. Nevertheless, OlyVision is not just a magazine and I want it to stand out from the crowd. I think the quality of the photography will make the black pages more bearable and I will craft a white design only at a certain moment.

As you already noticed the magazine does not have the contributor's name on the cover as I want the content to be a surprize and the design as clean as it can be. From my experience, distraction can be the downfall of a great content.

There will also be no ads like we can find in a regular publication. There will be some at some point, but not in a way to be considered an advertising magazine instead of a photography one.

All the best,

Agree about the white text on black - it just makes it harder to read on a screen. Unless I zoom in, the white characters get squeezed (look like they're poorly printed).

Hi Ionut

Really enjoyed the second issue some interesting stories and some fabulous images. I liked the short history on some of the original Olympus film PENs not something I'd really looked at.

Your link above didn't work for me (firefox on Windows 10) but this link takes me to the magazine that works in my browser.

Thanks for posting again! :)

Re: OlyVision

I am glad you enjoyed it! This tells me only that the magazine is on the right track.

I think I am one post away from being allowed to use links in my posts :).

I think is natural and very appropriate to be modern as we live in a modern way. Nevertheless, without remaining stuck into the past, I love my readers to see the steps Olympus took to get us to this very moment. That was the main reason for the "Olympus Legacy" section.

Anyway, I believe I didn't mention these facts. The magazine has been designed as a part of Olympus soul:
- the release date is 12, the same day when Olympus company was founded, 12th of October 1919
- the format is 4:3, meaning that if I will manage to launch the printed version it will be 30x40 cm maximum or any other size that falls under this ratio
- the yellow/gold colour of the fonts is the same as Olympus uses being taken from their Olympus Logo Usage Guidelines

Cheers,
Ionut

Re: OlyVision

Love the macro images. I love attempting things like this myself but technique is so difficult due to challenges of depth of field, lighting, subject movement, working distance etc. It would be really useful to know how these were taken. Some macro photographers use a "wildlife" approach with natural light, hand held, fully mobile subjects etc; some add flash of various sorts to illuminate better and freeze action; I've heard that some capture their subject, chill it in a regrigerator to make it quite static, and then compose a photo where they want, with chosen lighting and tripod and head with micro-adjustments on a macro rail and maybe (if everything is static) focus stacking.
