Editing Challenge

Here we go with our first "Editing Challenge". The RAW file is located in the DropBox Link provided by timboo.

I'd like to keep this initial thread going for a while to see how popular it is, but once the post rate slows to a point where no entries are being made, I'll give 24hrs notice and we can then decide on a "winning" edit.

I'm still open to suggestions on how we pick the winner, but please keep that discussion to the original "idea" thread.

It will make for some interesting edits in terms of crop and the sky colours. I have done my own edit and look forward to seeing a different take.
Anyway here is the first link to the ball rolling.

A number of processes and programmes (lightroom, photoshop). Not a fan of gravestones and the walls and composition blocked the subject for me. :)

Elements 12 and lots of layers each with their own adjustment for a gothic feel. Slight crop off the bottom.

From _TGB0042 by Timboo.

Edit: Red effect done by adding multiple red layers for each element (layer) blended in multiply mode with varying levels of opacity depending on which element I was doing. The mask for the castle/walls red layer was trimmed around the top and right sides to let more of the original whiter stone through to look like it was highlighted. Other than that each of the different layers had hue/saturation and brightness/contrast adjustment layers tweaked to taste.

Re: Editing Challenge

Having already posted one version with a dark theme I thought I would give FotoSketcher a go with one of its processed looks. I liked the slightly blocky colours of the cartoon effect but it lacked the details of the oil-pastel effect so I merged the two in Elements 12 although I might have let too much detail in. I then used OV3 to tweak the colours a bit, rotate it slightly, and give it a crop.

Edit: After some more playing around, I found I got far better results by resizing the picture to the final viewing size before I applied the effects. I put this down to the intended "blur" intoduced by the painting effect being scaled away as the picture was shrunk.

Re: Editing Challenge

My third entry into this challenge (no one said anything about not having multiple entries as is not a competition!) is this time using PhotoDirector 4 for an emphasis on clarity; so I've now used all 3 of my photo editing tools for comparison. The selection features for masking are very quick and easy to use in this tool making it much nice than Photoshop/Elements for quick adjustments. Rather than go to town on the effects I processed this as I would any picture of mine to bring out what was in front of the camera. The focus here was on bringing out the detail in the castle by using the clarity slider local adjustment on a castle mask. Global adjustements were just tweaking overall colour and brightness to taste with a slight reduction on clarity mainly to soften the wall at the front of the graveyard.
