June 2018 Photo Challenge: Reflections

To enter simply post your picture in this thread between now and 30th June 2018. There will then be a two week voting period during which all members (not just those who have entered the competition) will be encouraged to vote for their favourite by using the 'Like' button. 1st, 2nd & 3rd places will be allocated and these will ultimately count towards the title of E-System User Photographer of the Year. However, do bear in mind that each monthly round is a separate competition in its own right and you can enter as many or as few rounds as you wish.

Add a LIKE vote when you decide you have seen the best photograph. Voting begins on June 1st

We'll try to keep the rules simple, but we must have a few:-

1) Enter one picture only.

2) All entries must have been taken on an Olympus E-System body (Four Thirds or Micro Four Thirds), a non-Olympus body but using an Olympus Zuiko E-System lens or an Olympus digital compact such as the XZ-1.

3) One vote per member, please. You do not need to enter the competition in order to vote.

4) If you vote for more than one picture none of your votes will count. But you will be asked to remove any Likes other than your first choice.

5) You can change your mind at any time during the voting period simply by removing your original like before allocating it to your new choice.

I think I have covered everything but please do let me know if I have missed anything.

Now, let's see lots of entries and good luck to all those who participate!

I took some shots whilst out yesterday. On reviewing them this afternoon it looks like some have some interesting reflections in them, purely by chance. Pity we are only restricted to one entry and I have already put one up.

Imagine six entries and six likes allocated, one awarded to each image. The result will be 'flat' response without a winner, but on the plus side everyone will get top marks.

Well done Steve (Wreckdiver). This photo makes you stop and think; was it a similar feeling before you took the shot?

Well done to everyone else for some magnificent and very worthy shots.

Thanks OM USer.

A lot of thought and planning went into taking the shot. I knew what I wanted to achieve but also knew that I would have a very small window of opportunity to get the shots. The image was made from 7 bracketed photos to capture the full dynamic range of the light, from the shadows to the light through the stained glass the range was quite large. It took some time and meanwhile the crowds were building; I started as soon as the cathedral opened. There was one woman who saw what I was doing and deliberately stood right in my way to be awkward and got quite nasty when I asked her to move (politely).

Taken with my E-5 and the 11-22mm lens - metadata was lost in the PP. Done with Photoshop and Photomatix Pro.

Well done to all the other entrants, some excellent shots. I am proud to have my photo chosen as the winner.

Thanks to all,

Steve

Agreed. In the car club I belong to, we run a monthly photo competition. There is an option for everyone to receive at least one vote, so that no one gets left out. It also serves to acknowledge the amount of work involved that some members put in and the entrants with the most "thank you" votes becomes the winner. Photoshop is not allowed, mild digital manipulation is permitted.
