Has everyone was going on about the new noise reduction in LR3 I thought I would test it against my favourite raw converter.

I can honestly say that since I went Digital 6 years ago I have only ever took one image over ISO800, its proberly just my style/way of shooting.

So I had to take some Low light ISO 3200 image on the E-620 to test it.

Now regardless of the raw converter test I had a real nice suprise at how the E-620/30 handles noise ( at least in Raw files) compared to my other E cameras and have since raised the auto ISO to 3200.:)

As all high ISO images look good web sized a 100% (actual pixel size) pixel peeping crop.

I see a little chroma noise in the white areas, but yes LR3 is a big step forward in terms of noise management compared with LR2.

I do still think DxO Optics Pro has the edge when used with profiled lenses and body combinations - and it's automatic as well, so less time wasted fiddling with sliders.

Hi Ian, yes LR3 noise reduction is a lot better than LR2 and a little better than with Silkypix Pro and on a par with Capture One 5 (though I give CO5 the edge).

The thing that suprised me regadless of the raw converter used was how usable ISO 3200 is on the latest E- cameras as I had never gone above ISO 800 before.:D
