Hi All

Some may remember that back in 2008 I orgainsed a May Bank Holiday Challenge... well, it was great fun and so I thought I'd do another one for you all again this year.

As last time, the simple objective is to encourage everyone on here to get out and about over the bank holiday weekend, use your camera and take those shots! Easy eh! Here's the lo-down...

I will choose 10 themes or subjects that you have to try to capture at some time over the bank holiday. I don't have these themes identified as yet, and I want people who read this to reply with your ideas as to the theme/subject matter. I want everyone to feel they are part of this fun challenge, and to feel they are able to contribute, and will accept these suggestions until midnight tonight following which I will choose the themes from those suggested (and perhaps some others I have an idea about). Tomorrow morning I will post the details of the chosen themes, and then let the challenge commence... your task will be to take photos that match those themes/subjects/ideas, upload them to your www space or the e-group gallery (that I will create for the challenge) by close of play on Bank Holiday Monday.

As last time, Ian and I will simply pick a winner based on personal preference.

I have spoken briefly to Julia and she has again very kindly agreed to offer a few small prizes to the winner. No specifics yet, but typically I am sure it will be pretty similar to those offered last year

Olympus RM1 remote trigger
CF memory card (not sure of GB yet... but heck, it's still a prize yeah)

So, once again consider this a little incentive to you all to use your kit and contribute to the challenge.

Important: One more thing before I invite you all to post your suggested themes/subjects/ideas... We are all good people here, and we have a very friendly forum, please remember that I want this to be a fun challenge, and so please don't take this too seriously OK. We will trust you all that you will use your Olympus gear to take the shots, and I ask that you keep the submitted images to around 800px on maximum side. I want people here to have fun doing this, and to really get out and about on the bank holiday and enjoy the time being with your friends and family, and of course enjoy using your camera. So please... let's have a fun challenge OK... thanks... :)

You don't have to submit to every theme, and the challenge itself could have a separate challenge for yourselves i.e. you could challenge yourself to see if you can get shots for ALL of the themes/ideas/subject, or you could simply submit into just a few of them... it's your call. It's all about having fun and using your camera.

So... brief rules will follow tomorrow when I officially launch the challenge, but please let the posting of your suggested themes/subjects/ideas commence... and have fun yeah :)

Nice one John

But please no 4am shot this time :)

A few of suggestions
- a single colour works well, say 'Blue'
- Tempting food
- Candid
- Sunset (Sunrise is probably too close to 4 am)

Cheers

Well you have to have barbies so what about BBQs in unusual places? Bound to be one or two going on.
Or people wearing handkerchiefs on their heads - or other bank holiday headgear?

I didn't read this thread but I've posted in the entries page and then read that it's to be done over the bank holiday. This wasn't in the rules in the entries page, so if it's the judges decision to enforce it, then please ignore my entries :)

Hehe... it was indeed meant to be a small 'shove' to try get people out and about shooting over the May Bank Holiday weekend... :)

Perhaps I didn't make it clear in the rules, sorry.

Ah. I am planning to head out and shoot if the weather brightens up. Last weekend was perfect though, from which some of my entries came from :p

It's quite nice here at the moment, hope it stays that way. The forecast here is for much of the same tomorrow, so hopefully I'll be up at the crack of dawn to get my sunrise shots. Who's the idiot who chose these themes anyway... hehe.

Sunrise, in the summer, you're asking a Student to wake up 3am head to somewhere nice (on foot!) to take a sunrise shot. Hmmmm....

I thought a summer sunrise would be easy for a student - you could take one on your way home to bed! :D
