Since when did PATA drives stop being supported by hardware manufacturers?

I bought a new dell PC a few months back and finally got round to installing my old seagate barracuda from my other PC. Opened the case and no IDE slots on the Mobo, gutted!

Now I've an old 80gig barracuda that I can no longer use, the drive served me well, never let me down and is the reason I only by seagates today. I guess I'll need to invest in a new SATA barracuda :D

sorry for the "rant"

Cheers

You can get PATA to SATA bridge cards.

I might have one lying around if you are interested?

Computer technology moves on so fast you'd best get to the shops now. If you leave it until the morning SATA will be obsolete too!! :D

lol its does indeed..

Its cheaper to buy a new SATA drive. Novatech (http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/) have some great prices and come highly recommended, I have nothing to do with but have used them for 5+ years without any probs :)

Cheers J.baker, also noticed my Mobo only has 2 PCI slots  after my other video card goes in, I only have 1 left.

PATA bridge cards convert PATA to SATA. THe do not use any PCI cards.

I will look in my cable box tomorrow. If I find one, you can have it FOC.

I switched to SATA 3 years ago. A 500GB SATA is about 50-60 these days.

Hi Garrie

How about investing in a external drive box with USB cable - pop your old barracuda in there and bob's yer uncle. You can get them for as little as 10.

D.

Sorry to get your hopes up. I can find the cables and connectors, but not the bridge board. I had two lying around last week.

I suggest putting it into your nas box.
