Seems a pretty fair review.

I have been following with great interest the current trend in the reviews of cameras in photographic magazines and on internet sites.

In most cases the reviews end up in much the same way as reviews of restaurants, cars, films and anything else where subjective opinion is used. There is also a considerable amount of response to these reviews that has even resulted in heated debates in various online forum.

One of the most sensitive issues is the comparison of one manufacturer vs another in what is seen as bias by the author. Researching this I have found huge variations in the opinions of reviewers to the point where the reader can be left with the thoughts that they are simply reading little more than the manufactures press release...

There is however a tried and trusted method of getting advice on "Which" or "What" to go for when buying anything and this to simply ask someone who has one.

Most of the time the answer is an honest one that provides a good calibration of ones own thoughts. Especially if you ask people what they like and don't like about the subject in question.

One site actually has "Users" Reviews of a significant number of cameras and the results are very interesting. The number of user is sufficient to discount small sample errors in the data and could be used to provide a correlation factor between the Magazine reviews and these "users".

Olympus E-3 Score 95.4%
Nikon D3 Score 85%
Canon EOS 1Ds MkIII Scores 82.8%

OR It just might indicate Oly users are a happier bunch and willing to say good things about everything.:) Bottom line, like so many things in life, is that if you are happy with the results your getting...;)
