I posted this elsewhere but didn't think anyone would mind me posting here with the amount of interest in the 70-300 recently.

For this shot I was about 9 feet away. Any closer and I would have been in a ditch.

Do you find the 70-300mm more capable for those sort of shots than the 50-200mm with the EC14?

Jon,

I really like the 50-200, and its a great lens and I would say better than the 70-300. However, the 70-300 does put in a great performance in the right light. The 70-300 wins on the size / weight front and therefore finds itself in my bag more often than the 50-200. I'm sure it doesn't help you.

I too really like my 50-200mm but find I don't take it out that often because of the size and weight. I was considering selling/swapping it for the 70-300mm and EC14, I'd love all 3 but just can't afford it.

Hmmmm decisions decisions!

I use my 70-300 more than any of my other lenses. I use it when I go to Bird of Prey centres and also for photographing Equine sports and dog agility. Great lens.
