My battery is not fully drained, but I need it to be full for 2 back to back football matches. Can I recharge it as it is now or do I have to drain it completely. Thanks Mac

I seem to remember that Li-ion batteries are better recharged before being fully discharged.

They don't suffer from the memory effect that NiCad or NiMh do.

However, storing them fully charged can reduce capacity. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lithium-ion_battery

Mine are regularly recharged before being emptied and they don't seem any the worse capacity-wise. What I would suggest, however, is investment in a spare battery. Murphy's law dictates that your fully charged battery will still run out just before the vital goal-mouth skirmish in the closing moments of the 2nd match... :D

I second the second battery theory I usually put one on to charge and pick up the camera and forget the battery but always have two others in my bag!

Thanks for the advice & I have to get another battery. Is it best to buy Olympus own battery or are the compatible one's just as good. Thanks again Mac

Have a look at http://t5r.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/e1/clonetests.htm which has test results for various battery makes.

I use Uniross batteries as spares, and have found them to be excellent.

I have found the 7dayshop blm1 equiv. very reliable. But beware I have had 3 BLS1 equiv on backorder since mid-Feb and they have no idea when they will be in stock!
