I have a Mk1 but depends what you want to shoot with it ?
I get some good (for me that is) small birds from about 25 to 30feet away
would like the 70-300mm olympus about $280 in the states on ebay its a lot better than the 40-150mm for the longer distance

There is one on eBay today, new but unboxed from SRS (which is a respected and Olympus UK-supplied dealer in Watford) for 83 (including postage). Others seem to be around the 93 mark including postage) so 99 seems a bit expensive.

This is the newer and more compact version. The older 40-150 f/3.5-4.5 is bigger and bulkier, but brighter at the tele end. Both are very good lenses. The newer version is a more natural match for size and weght to your E-420. The older version of the E-420 may be better because it's brighter at the 150mm end and your camera doesn't have IS.
