Does anyone habe one of these?

http://www.jessops.com/online.store/products/75508/show.html

Is it any good - especially for used locked for bulb timer long exposures using the USB connector (not the E-1/E-3 connector)?

Stephen, our mod on FTU and DPNow, is taking his E-P1 to Iceland on Saturday and this is the only possible option for him in the timescale (assuming the optimistic scenario that his local Jessops in Wakefield actually has one!)

He's hoping to takle some Northern Lights shots.

Ian

PS The alternative is - can anyone help Stephen in the Wakefield area?

One of the mags did a mini review about a year ago for the release (Nikon type I think) and they said it worked fine, so I would have thought it worth a go

I doubt one will be available from Jessops as they claim special order only 28 days & collection not available in store
My local dealer in Sheffield are listing a genuine one HERE (http://www.harrisoncameras.co.uk/productdetail.kmod?productid=7631)

Alternatively This shop (http://translate.google.co.uk/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ormsson.is%2Fdefault. asp%3Fcontent%3Dnetverslun%26fl%3D257&sl=is&tl=en&hl=&ie=UTF-8) lists Olympus and is in Iceleand.

As does this one (http://translate.google.co.uk/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.bt.is%2Fvorur%2Fbrows e%2Fflokkur%2Fmyndavelar&sl=is&tl=en&hl=&ie=UTF-8)

Might be worth an e-mail

Enjoy the holiday, It's a place I've been wanting to go for years.

Thanks everyone, I appreciate the quick response. It would be nice to have a cable release, but I suppose its not the end of the world as the E-P1 will time up to 60" which is around the times I'm expecting to use for photographing the Northern Lights. This is always supposing the weather conditions are good for seeing them in the first place. We are only going for 4 nights, but it would be a real bonus if I get the chance to get some shots.

Thanks also go to Ian for posting this, and kitting me out with a few extra lenses, if I get anything worth showing I'll be sure and post them here.

60" for the Northern Lights at ISO 400 is easily long enough... if the sky permits try short exposures at high ISO as well... some old film images http://www.paddles.shetland.co.uk/Aurora%20images.htm

I did once hear that you can expect the light to show once a week, so your odds aren't perfect, but good luck!
