Does anyone know if this jobo gps (http://www.jobo.com/web/photoGPS.447.0.html) works with Olympus cameras?

I'm trying to find a simple way of geotagging my photos :)

The manual is at http://www.jobo.com/web/fileadmin/service/photogps/manual/JOBO_photoGPS_GB.pdf

It should work because it simply uses the time the shot was taken and matches the GPS info to the photos after you've downloaded them onto your computer by comparing times.

Hi Tracey,

Don't know about the jobo, but this one from Sima (http://www.simaproducts.com/products/product_detail.php?product_id=649) has an Olympus version (http://cgi.ebay.com/GPS-Geotagging-Unit-for-Olympus-Evolt-E-620-E-520-E-420_W0QQitemZ360220352197QQcmdZViewItemQQimsxZ2009 1224?IMSfp=TL091224218007r14028) or here (http://www.rugift.com/photocameras/gps-geotagging-unit-olympus-43.htm), not sure if you can one in the UK.

Regards

Gavin

Maplins sell what I think may be exactly the same as the Sima one shown above. They list it at 49.99 but I bought mine for 10.00 less in a sale last year. It does work, but I did have a few teething troubles to start with. Software updates cured these and I found the Chinese company very quick in producing these updates when I told them of the problems.

It does work by logging time, so the clocks need to be set identically, although you can correct for time zone changes.

According to the manual I quoted the Jobo works by synchronising the 1st photo with the 1st gps reading at download time, maybe manually , then it uses the time differences between shots. Maybe a software difference between the Maplin one and the Jobo?

Sorry to cause confusion.

The Maplin GPS logger is similar to the Sima product, just a different colour so I am speculating that it may come from the same source. I have no experience of the Jobo device.

The Maplin device does look very like the picture of the Sima device, but internally could be different I suppose.

The Maplin device is called an I-gotU. It takes a little bit of getting used to the 'controls', but it does work fairly well. When logging it needs a clear view of the sky and can drop the signal. It also depends on how you carry it. It doesn't fit to the camera. I tend to carry it in a breast pocket.

Have a look at the I-gotU website where I think you can find a demo.
