Hi all,

I have a problem with my FL-36 flashgun. The locking ring has fallen apart (into two pieces) leaving it permanently attached to a flash bracket. This doesn't cause me too much trouble as I almost always use it on a bracket anyway (I have no choice now!) but I would like to get it off. It seems likely I could simply superglue the two bits together around the thread on the gun but I can foresee three potential problems here:

1) Which way up does it go? i.e. the milled part on top or bottom?

2) Does it have to be aligned any particular way? There appears to be a pin in the thread on the gun, but nowhere obvious for it to go on the ring.

3) Am I risking simply glueing the ring to the thread and achieving nothing?

Any help or advice gratefully accepted.

Thanks,

Paul

1) The "milled" part goes to the top

2) Yes! The small circular depression on the locking ring needs to be positioned adjacent to the front left hand corner of the hot shoe foot as the spring loaded locking pin will be in the down position.

3) No! But get hold it in place with an elastic band or tape to get the function correct before committing to super glue.

Good Luck

If you can see the pin in the thread then I would have thought that with a bit of playng you should be able to lift it which in turn should release the lock pin on the foot allowing you to remove it from the bracket!

Problem solved - I found a little plastic lug on the front, lifted it up and slid the flash off the bracket in a second. Now as I move it up and down I can see the locking pin at the bottom retracting.

But again, thanks for all the help
