Does anyone on this forum have any actual experience with this lens? it is by all accounts a good one but actual tests are few and far between and direct comparisons between it and say the 14-54 or 12-60 are rarer still. *chr

Good morning Don.

Have you checked this web page? http://www.clubsnap.com/forums/showthread.php?t=226414

This compares both lenses and may help answer some of your questions. On the face of it, the Leica is better at wider apertures.

I think it's a good lens, but mechanically fragile. I have received several examples that have issues with zoom mechanism, as if the gearing has come loose - becoming noisy and rough in action.

I think it's better than the 14-54 wide open, but it's not weather sealed. With built in Mega OIS it's ideal for users of non-stabilised Olympus bodies.

Thanks Ian. I get the impression that it has a reputation based on the Leica name that it doesn't really quite deserve.
