The temptation was finally too much - Oly 12-60 for 549.99 in Currys digital, Newcastle upon Tyne.- out came the credit card.

For anyone in the North East area, Newcastle has 1 more left, PC World in Sunderland-2, And Teeside retail park-3. A 50-200 is also available at Kingston Park PC World for 680.

They will not supply by post, but the assistant suggested speaking to the manager of your local branch and offer to pay carriage charges on top of the purchase price and buy from them. If they are helpful that is!

Hope this is of some use to you.

Oh yeah - does anyone want to buy a Sigma 10-20EX and 18-50 EX?

they had the 35 macro at 99 as well.............

quite a few stores have them - but a lot (including some wharehouses) don't

you can ring many stores direct for availability and reservation - to get the number you need to use 'Dixons' in the BT online phonebook and match addresses. You can't get to the stores by phone via any of their call centres

Thanks for the info! I've just acquired a 35mm macro for 99 from PC World in Bournemouth (the newish branch at Mallard Road opposite Castlepoint - they have one more).

No Olympus lenses at all at the Curry's in Bournemouth and Christchurch (including one calling itself "Digital"). I'll have a look around Poole tomorrow.

I can't believe how this offer is being carried out - I went into Currys Digital today in Chelmsford where there was a 35 mm for 99 and 40 -150mm (but can't remember the price) but no 12-60mm or space for it in the cabinet. So I thought I'll ask if there may be a way of getting one from another branch. A helpful young member of staff looked it up on the computer and said "We've got one in the store room and it's still 549.99" I said "Yes please" hit the plastic and worked out how to explain it when I got home!

But if you are looking for this brilliant deal (or posibly other lenses like the 50 -200mm) and it's not on display - ASK - you may get a nice surprise.

Now I get to play with my new lens!:)

I'm sure I'm not the only one interested to hear the explanation. If it's good I might want to use it myself ;)

Simple;

Interest rates are currently so low that any money in the bank isn't really earning anything.
Hence if you buy a lens cheaply enough, when you come to sell it you should realise a good profit, well outstripping the bank's meagre interest rate.
Look on these things a solid investment in turbulent times.

Worked for me with the 300mm.
(then again, I do live alone:rolleyes:)

Aargh!

I've been looking for an "affordable" 35mm macro, but can't get near any of the stores until towards the middle of next week. Bournemouth would probably be my nearest, or Southampton.

Does anybody know of any stores that still have one? I've just tried phoning their 0844 number, they say there aren't any Olympus or Zuiko lenses in any of their stores anywhere in the country *cry

Ellie - Chelmsford Currys Digital had one this morning at 99 on display - they might post it to you if you offer them postage.

As of this morning (Sunday 27th) the remaining 35mm macro has gone from the PC World at Mallard Road, Bournemouth, but they do have a 12-60mm at 549, and a 40-150mm at 149.

Good hunting!

Further to the above, forgot to mention that the Christchurch (Somerford Road) PC World has two 40-150mm lenses (but nothing else of interest).

So if anyone should be after those there seem to be a few around.

right I am a little confused now.

I just popped into my local currys only to find that they have just taken delivery of their new stock of Olympus gear ... an E600 to be exact.

So are they dumping Olympus or not?????

Chichester PC World had two 35mm Olympus macros as at 15:00 today - Wed 7th. They have it signed with a higher price but I went next door to Curry's who listed it as 99.97, but none available. The assistant went into PC World on my behalf collected a lens and sold it to me at 99.97. PCW now have one left.

In addition the recent offers by Olympus show that the 35mm macro is on their list of 'cashbacks'. I have a goods receipt, I will register the lens this evening on their website, send the required documentation, and wait to get the 30 euros cash back. If this happens, I will have an unbelievable bargain.

Currys at Fort Kinnaird, Edinburgh have an E-3 at 769 but no lens bargains. PC World at the same location said "what's an Olympus?"!

Standard digital lens. Works on all E series cameras. Good quality, for the price, with 1:1 reproduction ratio.

Hello

I thought I had just asked this question on this thread, but it does not seem to be there.

So here goes again

The 35mm macro lens discussed on this thread. Is it a lens which will fit onto the 510 and if so is there any special requirements to do this, adaptors etc between the camera and the lens.

Working at Bedford and the Currys there had the 40-150 and the 35mm macro.

I know someone will clarify what I am asking so thanks in advance

The prices at Currys South Liverpool (Speke) seem to fluctuate on weekly basis!

I recently purchased a FL36 for 120 (also picked up the FL20 for 24.99 from city centre store) but noticed it was back to 169 when I popped in on Monday. The 40-150 was priced at 79 at the time, but now back to full price as I think they may be pushing it as part of a multideal with the E600. The 70-300mm was 279 but has been reduced further to 249.

Currys city store also has the 12-60 at 549 and the E3 body at 799.

John Lewis Liverpool had the FL36 on sale for 129 on Saturday.

So tempting, but I'm already puty in my six month old daughter's hands-she only has to flash a smile and the readies are heading her way!!

Anyone know what a typical price for the E-600 will be?

the future price is unknown but the current price is about 550

given the current Olympus deal on the 620 this now looks unsustainable!

Hello all

Would it be possible for one of you lucky members who have been able to find and buy the 35mm macro for sale to give the 6 digit currys stock number. as a store near me will then be able to locate one in my area.if there is one. Other option if anyone sees one at the price on this thread 99 and is willing to purchase one on their credit card the cheque will be in the post ASAP to repay them and cover postage. I can not find one in my area including travel out of area with work.

I await any replies

Thanks to all for the information recieved, it was a great help in locating this lens. I have now purchased on from PC World Chesterfield and with the information I got from Derby they had 2 (now 1) and Mansfield PC World had 1 left. So if anyone in the East Midlands area is on the lookout for this lens here`s 2 to buy.

Loads of thanks again.

Hi

If anyone nearby is interested.

They have one left it's the display one, in a cabinet, probably has never been touched.

I pass the Strand Branch in London and they tend to have them on display, plus 12-60mm and 70-300mm, as mentioned in previous posts on this subject they are a clearance branch for stores closing or re fitting. Spoke to a guy on the photo department and he confirmed it

I got two lenses from Currys Digital Strand Road London by going to my local Currys (N. Ireland ) they let me pay them , they e-mailed a copy of my receipt to the Strand Road Branch with my address details etc. I then paid DHL to pick up the lens and I got it next day. I did this twice with no problems.
Dealt with John Sparks manager (Strand Road) on 02073790112 might be worth a call they might still have stock.

Hope this helps.

The lens was still there today (25th early pm) - had a look but couldn't still afford!! The staff said that someone had come over from Ireland specially for one of their stock - despite the cost of getting to Newcastle it was still cheaper than elsewhere!
