hello again!
i am in the process of deciding which lens to buy next...at present i have the ZD 14-42mm, ZD 40-150mm, ZD 70-300mm and OM 50mm f1.8.

i am torn between the ZD 14-54mm f2.8 and the Sigma 105mm macro. if i get the 14-54mm, how big a difference is it from the 14-42mm kit lens? as a hobbyist, would i be able to know the difference? if i get the sigma, it would definitely compliment what i already got but ill be missing out on a fast and brighter lens(the 14-54mm)

i am also thinking of getting the EX-25. my question is would it be worth buying the ex-25 and would this be useful with my present kit? is this compatible with the sigma macro?

thanks

They are all fine lenses, the Sigma would open a lot of doors in so much as although a macro lens (and a very good one) It also makes a light tele lens.but with the kit you have it may be just extra weight with not a lot of benefit! Save up and buy the 12-60 or dare I say the 9 - 18 but you don't need both.

The 14-54mm would replace your 14-42mm, with far better results!;)

This may be of help in working out your options...

http://www.vandel.nl/

It will show you on a graph all the focal lengths that you use, so that you can then see which new lens would get the most use and hence be the best value for money...

Let us know how you get on...;)

I think, the next lens will greatly depend of your style of photography.

Changing a perfectly good 14-42mm for a 14-54 ...... I would not.

The Sigma 105mm macro would be a great addition.

If you are into the highly addictive field of the wide's th 9-18mm would be a good choice, you might even start thinking about the 7-14mm beast.
The last one is expensive, I know.

I started, like you, with ZD 14-42mm and 40-150mm.

I upgraded to a ZD 14-54mm and use it all the time: Excellent Lens
I then added a ZD 70-300mm: Probably most used Lens.
I have now added a ZD 9-18mm last week.

I haven't got a decent macro lens, but all the other bases will be covered once I purchase a EC14!

I feel happy with my chosen upgrade path, accepting advice from others. I also joined the Olympus photo safari group and getting hands-on on all the equipment is really worthwhile.

Hope this helps
