Has anyone had the need to "test" the Olympus WW Warranty

I've recently exchanged information with Olympus UK having tried to register my EC-14 on their website and was told that it was an invalid serial number. When I querieid it as I knew that I had purchased from an internationally reputable major supplier I had the feedback that the registration which according to their web page "guarantees your warranty and is helpful in case your product is stolen." is only for UK sourced products.

The site has allowed me to register other non UK sourced Items in the past!

This makes me annoyed. It clearly states WW warranty on the card and I want to make a complete record of the items I have - I'm most likely to want to call in a warranty issue whilst travelling and I don't want to carry all the warranty cards with me. Having the serial numbers registered in case of problems seemed sensible, but now I have my doubts.

Andy

I had exactly the same issue with exactly the same product.

Picked it up on my travels, not a deliberate overseas purchase, and I appreciate I have only a 1 year warranty rather than the European 2 but I didn't have a lot of choice! I got an ex25 at the same time with the same issue.

I don't understand the approach. I fully accept the stance on warranty and the registration of units against offers etc but I simply wanted to have everything (I have about 10 items registered!) in one place as they (Oly) highlight.

Shame.

More importantly try getting your kit serviced on the WWW I had my 40-150mm go down whilst on holiday in South Africa and could not get the local distributor to fix the lens so I could use it on safari. 500 quid lighter I ended up purchasing 18-180mm so I could get the all important shots of the wild life.

I have items purchased in and ourside of the UK. All have been registered on the Olympus website. I have no problems.

I have just sent a camera, that was probably sourcedin the states, for a service. I am not expecting any problems.
