A guarantee that your car will fail and costs will certainly cover the discount...or am I just cynical....

An MOT can only be done by a fully trained and registered examiner.

Spot on I would say. Heavily discounted MOT's usually turn out to be very expensive, especially at main dealers. In the past I have taken our Vauxhalls' to the Jag dealer, and the Jag to the Vauxhall dealer. That way you know they will only report genuine faults and won't try to empty their overstocked parts bins on your car. So far that strategy has worked well for us.

Interestingly, a set of new Goodyear tyres for our daughter's Astra was over 90 cheaper from Stratstones than the same tyres from the Vauxhall main dealer, and with no risk that they would find other expensive parts to replace.

Like Paul I wouldn't trust Halfrauds (or Kwick Fit) anywhere near our cars.
