Most of those are sensible comments. Why would most sensible people without a stake in an opposing stance disagree

I own two: one digi and the other a grain merchant - with the appropriate film.

You could condense around 4 of them in to the quotation:

"Amateur photographers obsess over gear. Professional photographers obsess over money. Great photographers obsess over light."

The author, Robert K. Baggs dead pan portraits apparently were shot in a waxworks. They say nothing about his subjects. He's obviously not a photo journalist. Did he train as a police photographer?

Some good points there, particularly regarding gear obsession, although I reckon most go through that at some stage before we get the bigger picture.
Ironic then, to judge by the author's web site, that he spends such a lot of time photographing some truly hideous watches.

3. Shooting film in the digital age is photographic masturbation. It may be self-gratifying, but it doesn’t do anything for anyone else

Well let the pros can worry about that. For me self-gratification is the whole point of photography. And film is the most gratifying medium.
