Was this something we would have known about?

Today we're delighted to announce a brand new lens that's the most powerful zoom in the mirrorless camera category yet: meet the new M.Zuiko Digital ED 12-200mm F3.5- 6.3!

This is a 16.6x high-magnification zoom that offers the 35mm equivalent of 24-400mm, and excellent performance across the entire focal length – all the way from wide angle to telephoto.

Packing a high-speed and high-precision autofocus (AF) into an amazingly compact and lightweight form with a design that's dust-, splash- and freezeproof, this versatile lens is ideal for landscape, street and portraits.

The new M.Zuiko Digital ED 12-200mm F3.5-6.3 will be available from late March 2019 – speak to your local photographic retailer to learn more...

I have been a bit too spoilt by the 12-100mm f/4 IS PRO to ever look seriously at this lens. However, I would be interested to see what users think of it.

Seems a good range. I think I better put my 14-150mk2 on sale first

Was this something we would have known about?

I think there were some hints in among all the teasers for the new stuff, but we all paid so much attention to the E-M1X and 150-400 that we didn't really clock this. I wasn't too surprised when it popped up on Oly's Faecesbook feed this morning.

I would say it's ideal for anything but landscape, street and portraits.

I have been pondering about the 14-150mm for some time as a replacement for my 40-150mm. This 12-200mm looks much better on paper for my needs when I want a one lens kit.

It has been on the Rumors site for a couple of weeks. Maybe the only lens that you will ever need................;)

The 12-100 is 8.33X zoom.

12-200 is 16.66X zoom....Nah, something has to be scarfed.

Back in the day, anything above 4X zoom was considered c**P, but I guess things have moved on a bit since then.

It doesn't seem to have the inbuilt lens stabilisation like the 12-100. So the in-body stabilisation is going to have its work cut out at 200mm.

As it does with the 75-300 with its longer reach but my M1ii copes very well. 200mm should not be a problem.
