As a keen photographer, I am / might be needing more purpose in my hobby.

I look at local photography jobs, on a contrac/freelancet basis, certainly not full time.

These hospital maternity jobs come up regularly. Does anyone do anything like this? Personally I would have thought families would take their own intimate and very personal photos, but there seems to be a market for it. I suspect the job is as much for selling as for photography.

Hospital maternity jobs? Really? Doing what? Surely not taking professional pictures of a birth?

I very much doubt that. Its not a pleasant sight if you have seen it...……..

My guess is that its family group, mother & child etc. This company are selling professional photos, they may even be done in a small studio in the hospital. I think families might consider this, as opposed to photos taken with mobile phones at or in bed/side...…..

Digital photography has probably rendered a lot of photographic jobs redundant, but at the same time good and creative photography has become more important than ever in advertising, marketing and publicity.

There are probably more opportunities than ever in creative photography now, but I would personally steer well clear of any franchise or production line photography such as school mugshots.
