I have just upgraded my 70-300mm. All went well.

Now it may be my perception, but it appears to focus a bit quicker now.

I would be interested for other opinions.

I just updated my 70-300 - although my 410 obviously doesn't support imager autofocus which the update refers to I'm sure that the new firmware has made the autofocus marginally quicker and definately less prone to hunting (on the E410) than it used to be? has anyone else noticed this or is it just my imagination?

Thanks for the update, I would agree with the comments about focussing. I am also seeing less focus hunting on my 510.

Thanks for the comments above re speed of auto-focus and hunting. This was one of the main reasons for relegating this lens to occasional use as a Macro zoom. I shall try the update, encouraged by your comments.

Is this update likely to make any difference to the E-400?

I don't see why not. I can't test it for you at the moment as although I have an E-400, I don't have a 70-300.

Just thought I should mention that I attempted to update my 70-300 and it failed half way through - I believe the Internet connection went down during the update. It is now back with Oly to have it done again and I would advise anyone else to update using a cable connection to their router, not a wireless connection.
