View Full Version : Olympus Raw codec for Windows Vista

Saw this mentioned in the forums somewhere so went looking for more details and found this codec.

This will allow you to display Raw pictures directly in Windows Vista.

Cameras supported are:

E-1, E-3*, E-300, E-330, E-400, E-410, E-500 , E-510 , E-10, E-20, C-70 ZOOM, C-5050ZOOM, C-5060 Wide Zoom, C-7070 Wide Zoom, C-8080 Wide Zoom, SP-310, SP-320, SP-350, SP-500UZ, SP-510UZ, SP-550UZ, SP-560UZ

*A part of the parameter does not apply to RAW developing of images.

Yeah I personally shoot Raw + Jpeg and I was very happy with this codec as it allows you to "preview" the Raw stuff selecting the "preview" from right click, instead of me having to open up Lightroom, Master or one of the other programs that take longer.

Now I wish this codec existed for XP as I do the majority of digital darkroom stuff on my other 'puter with XP ... (or maybe it does?)

There is a raw CODEC for XP but it is for Nikon and Canon only :(

I read somewhere that Microsoft have left it down to camera manufacturers to produce the CODECs thereas Apple build it into OS.

I have put off updating to Vista but this raw CODEC from Oly has convinced me it is time to do an upgrade. Maybe in a week or two's time I will be able to have time to make the transition.
