The film is well made and you have to admire the skill of the eagle but I just can't understand people who kill things purely for their own enjoyment.

In this particular instance, the killing was to cut back the numbers of hares. The kills were used to feed the eagles as well as humans during the cull. Some, if not all of this footage is, I believe, to be used in a forthcoming BBC program. It seems the BEEB couldn't do the 'technie stuff' that was managed here.

There are quite a few places along the Highland Boundary Fault in Perthshire and Angus where they cull hares. I saw Mount Keen in a couple of shots and I reckon the film was done about 5 miles east of there. I'm in 2 minds about it as the cull has to be registered. But the Angus Glens are notable for their lack of Hen Harriers i.e. none when there should be some. A bit like the moors in Northern England.

I don't know the details of the highlands (other than the well publicised criminal activities in respect of Hen Harriers/Eagles), but I'm not in two minds about the goings on in the Lammermuirs. Here's (http://www.heraldscotland.com/news/13182140.Outrage_over_mountain_hare__massacre_/?ref=twtrec)some info on"culling" in the Lammermuirs. It's basically mass slaughter of wildlife so that people can enjoy killing grouse. And don't get me started on habitat destruction.
