Hmm. There is some interesting stuff on there.

I was particularly interested in the statement saying "The cause of the exploding packs was eventually pinned on a combination of poor design and rushed assembly that resulted in widespread defects and failed safety measures".

I wonder how often that happens nowadays?

The interesting fact about this story is that only the lower spec models of Zafira were affected, as they used a big resistor to control fan speed. When the originals failed GM found some even cheaper replacements which set fire to the cars.

The higher spec models were unaffected because they used an electronic switching controller which presumably cost big GM a few pence more per unit. :rolleyes:
