This is my first painting for 2017 - Oil on canvas board 24" x 18"
It is the second rendering of this location using a reference photo shot on a visit to the Outback during 2014.
The Black Kite was shot separately nearby, the region abounds with them, it is a wonderful site to see them riding the thermals.

Here's the reference photo. My aim was not to copy the photo literally but to stylize it.

Definitely a big improvement Mark, I like the difference between the flat and the flowing water. Good job.

Nice interpretation of the photo and the actual waterfall.

Well done.

Have you heard of Lister Lister? Reminds me a little of his style.

Thanks Andrew, I agree, it is an improvement on the previous version.

Thank you for the kind words, John.

Lovely, bright, interpretation, Mark, a pleasure to view.
Thanks David, "interpretatuon" was the word I needed rather than 'rendition'. Interpreting a photo as a painting is always a challenge, just as it is when paintinf direct from nature.

Thanks OM. Water has always fascinated me, it is the giver of life.

Nice interpretation of the photo and the actual waterfall.

Thanks. I must admit that I hadn't heard of him. I looked him up, a 19th century Australian artist, how did you become aware of him?
