I love this bit:

Allegedly; although my personal wetting of the camera has been restricted to a spatter of drool when I first took it out of the box.

Enjoyed reading that!

On a more serious but equally positive note, there's a highly supportive review of the mkii, 300, 1.4tc and 40-150 by the professional bird photographer Scott Bourne on the latest Photofocus Mirrorless podcast.

He said, after taking the time to learn how to set it up properly, that the CAF for birding wasn't quite as good as that of the Canon 1DX mkii (4600 body only), but that it was the equal of all other birding bodies he has ever used. He also finds the 300 with t/c fully usable handheld all day for birding on the mkii, and he's a guy who has had a lot of orthopaedic problems with ageing (problems with which I know many of us have sympathy!).

He buys his own gear, I might add.

I can't find a link to this particular issue of the podcast yet, but here's Scott's twitter feed, showing that he's now put the rest of his canon gear up for sale: https://mobile.twitter.com/scottbourne?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp %7Ctwgr%5Eauthor
