I see that it's likely we will pass 400,000 posts today :)

The number of registered users reached 4,000 today as well, but I discovered that it was a spam user and so that and a few others I weeded out means we have a few more accounts to fill yet.

I will be sending out a rare newsletter to all registered users today and that may well result in a few more account deletions as former Olympus owners sometimes asked to be removed when receiving newsletters. But 4,000 users is just a small matter of time now rather than if :D

By my calculation, post 400,000 was by Petrochemist:

http://e-group.uk.net/forum/showthread.php?p=401850

There have actually been 401,897 posts in total and this one makes it 401,898, with the official count being at 400,047 and so 1,850 posts have previously been deleted for one reason or another.

But how many are spammers and how many will contribute?

I have checked the registration details of most of them and they all appear to be genuine Olympus users. I suspect that the site has found its way onto a social media site and been given a bit of publicity :)

Olympus is getting a lot of good publicity with the new camera and lenses so I guess a lot of people may well be looking for reliable information and this site is a very good place for that. We openly discuss the positives and negatives without a lot of the inter-make rivalry

But how many are spammers and how many will contribute?

I have my PC & Tablet set up to enter the site via the page that shows "New Users". I then look for the obvious signs... I don't keep count, but several this year have been removed, often in a very short time. :(

Then I keep an eye out for new posts from new members and any "funny" stuff gets deleted, they get one warning (John is not so forgiving... :D )

Fortunately the vast majority of members play nicely, so very little intervention is needed.

As has often been said, this is a very useful forum and a great source of info., as well as some excellent photographs.
