I don't know whether to laugh or cry!

"Roughly a third of American voters think that the Marxist slogan “From each according to his ability to each according to his need” appears in the Constitution."

From the "New Yorker":

The ignorance is genuinely frightening!

It doesn't surprise me. A few years ago a Canadian comedian did some pieces called, IIRC 'Talking to Americans' where he interviewed politicians, students and professional people. The level of ignorance was what made it funny.

I lived in New Jersey for 18 Months. There is nothing new in any of this...

The real problem is that it is worsening in direct proportion to the social divisions that exist. Unfortunately it is much the same thing here.

I'd like to disagree with you there, unfortunately I can't :(

However there is a knowledge deficit in the UK
see the number of Google queries that arose after the referendum in June.

There are still people thinking that because they voted to leave the EU in June that the UK has now left the EU.

A Churchill said
"The best argument against democracy is a five-minute conversation with the average voter."

Ah, yes, but he also said, more perceptively:

“Democracy is the worst form of government, except for all the others.”

Politics should never be left to the proletariat! As Stalin said:

It is enough that the people know there was an election. The people who cast the votes decide nothing. The people who count the votes decide everything
