View Full Version : I'm mortified!

For some reason I can't recall I have a Linkedin account, though I've never used it (I'm retired anyway).

I received an email from them today stating that I have three endorsements. To my horror they're for MS Office, MS Excel and MS Word - which I'd never dream of touching!

I've not accepted the endorsements, as people would think that I actually use them! The embarrassment would be like finding porn on my computer!

I guess somehow they're listed as your skills, as I think you can only endorse skills people say they have!

I haven't got any skills listed!

That seems extremely random then!

Please be aware that emails can be "spoofed" - the email may give the appearance that it comes from LinkedIn, but it could have been sent by someone else who wants you to click on a link - which might bring you to an unsafe web site.

Not saying that is the case here but it's a common tactic to send people some "good" news so they unwittingly click on an unsafe link.

The endorsement was from someone I used to work with. I can't imagine why they would want to accuse me of using Microsoft products, we used to get on OK!

BTW, other than the obvious 'phishing' links, there are no unsafe links that I know of when using a web browser on Linux.
