An Olde Fart's problem ;)

As Grumpy is away on holiday and will soon become known as Happy, *yes I thought this might do for the Friday question... time to jog the memory banks.

A bank assistant was asked to change a 1 pound note - at a time when there were 20/-, or 240p to the - into 20 silver coins. The only stipulation was that there to be no 1/- coins recieved in the transaction.

"We have no silver 3p pieces but that shouldn't be a problem..." said the bank assistant

What coins did the customer receive and how many of each?

I make it:

two half crowns
Four two shilling pieces
fourteen sixpenny pieces...

Five shillings, plus eight shillings plus seven shillings = twenty shillings or a proper pound!
