Four Thirds User (Fourthirds-user.com (http://fourthirds-user.com)) is a sibling site to the e-group.

This article contains some analysis of the high ISO performance of the Olympus E-30, compared with the lower resolution Olympus E-3, and NIkon's class-leading D300. The article also contains RAW and JPEG test image samples for you to download.

Well there's plenty of discussion over there, but I thought I would start some over here

I haven't performed any testing at all, just looked at the provided files. I'm not commenting on specific performance qualititive results and relating maths like has been done on some of the threads referenced from the article.

Having said all of that I can see that the E-30 is truly performing well and I think that the E-3 has a real competitor on it's hands and this may well make some seious inroads into what has been the perceived weakspot of the 4/3 systems cameras

I think this is an excellent step forwards and look forwards to seeing an E-30 in the flesh. I wonder whether the E-3 will have an internal competitor that will need real consideration by many as I wonder how many of us need that weather proofing - it not been something that I've ever worried about and I take cameras into some really challenging environments.

Thanks for the review Ian - I forsee some careful thinking in the future

Regards
Andy
