Sorry I couldn't give more advanced warning - starts in 30 minutes, for Prime members (and at some later point, for none-Prime).

Good grief. I want it, but can't justify the outlay - I rarely shoot long (besides, I'm still liking the results I get from my 'piece of $%^' 40-150, at the other end of the scale).

Oh b*****r.....looks like I'm going to be selling a few lenses in the near future just went for this
Thanks Internaut for the tip. ... now what to get the other half for Christmas???

Showing at 1148.50 now but I'm not a Amazon prime member and it says lightning deal has ended. Looks like only 23% were claimed. At 975 it would probably have been in my basket, the only problem being where to hide it.

I looked and looked at this deal! It was a great price but I still have my 50 - 200 SWD and from what I have read there is little difference between the two.

Does anyone on here feel this way? Or have people found it worth upgrading at the end of the day?

The 40-150 is still there on Amazon at a good price although slightly higher, worth I be gaining much from buying it?

I have both but since getting the 40-150 pro my 50-200 has been cleaned and put in its case! You do lose some reach but I feel I get a better all round result from the new lens and TC. Ed

Not quite such a good price as the lightening deal but HDEW have the combination on offer for 100 more.

Check Richmond Cameras. I think the price is 799.99!!!!

I believe that is for lens only - no teleconverter

I thought it was way out of keeping other prices I had seen. Now I know why:o

That 40-150 outperforms everything in the same price range an a lot that are considerably more...

Blimey I didn't realise things were that cheap in Oz. Still for the UK it's cheap. Mind you my next day delivery has turned into 2-3 days :( looks like Amazon over stretched themselves a bit.

My watch arrived two days late. I know they're stretched, but if Amazon Logistics could give me time to answer the bloody door, rather than have me running down the street after them?

It is just the lens (837.12) but still a good deal.

Amazon logistics is useless. Complain in the "where's my item" bit and get a month free prime for it being late :) still haven't paid a penny for Prime ;)

That really is a cracking price for that lens, if only I had a crystal ball.....

Unfortunately it looks like this lens isn't in the Olympus cash back offer. I had a good deal the other month with the 60MM macro for 275 and then 75 cash back on top.

doesn't matter what we use, it's how we use it. *yes

OK, I know this is an oly forum and oly pay some of the bills; but; the Lumix FZ200 and now the new FZ300 is a great affordable backup long lens for Oly shorter lens gear. I guess Olympus have something similar, however my experience is with the FZ200 and that incredible lens. But I have to add my 2nd fz200 [lens] is not quite as good as my first fz200 :(. Already wanting the new fz300 as they have added many of the fixes I thought were needed

having said that; sorry Olympus; I have often thought an em10 (II now) with the kit 40-150 would be a great way to go; spare camera and no need to be changing lens in this dusty place.

the 2.8 version is outside my $$ these days

Well Amazon finally delivered and with a quick look the lens is stunning. What a beauty, will have to wait a couple of weeks to see how it performs though as it's a Christmas present. Other good news was that as my daughter ordered it for me with her prime account she got student discount as well!!! so an even better deal in the end. Oh and there is 100 cash back too but only if I buy an EM5mk2 which isn't going to happen I'm afraid.

I'd quite like an FZ1000, but those don't come cheap!

It's tempting, but then I'd have to buy a new body. The 12-40 is hardly a perfect balance on my E-P5. The 40-150 + TC would be absurd!

Where there's a will, there's a way to make oneself poorer (at least in terms of cold, hard cash).
