They're forecasting an early and cold winter for Canada also. Not that you'd know it this week, it's 25C feeling like 30 with the humidity this evening.

A classic case of journalistic sensationalism and misreporting.

The only actual quote from a named credible source (the MET Office) completely refutes the headline statement making a nonsense of the entire article.

This is exactly the sort of thing I refer to in my thread "Conflicting Media Messages".

Exactly.

The Met Office consistently says that it is impossible to predict specific weather events more than about a week in advance, or ten days at best.

Meteorologists can predict general trends several weeks in advance, but these predictions are notoriously unreliable; which is probably why the Met Office has refuted the article in question.

Ive just begun putting winter gear in storage making wardrobe space for my new summer ensembles! :cool:
