It would help if there were fewer passwords required for websites where security is not really as issue. Royal Mail, for example, requires a login and high strength password to look up more than ten postcodes in a day. Why? This simply encourages people to reuse their important passwords (perhaps used for banking) to check that they are sending mail to the right address!

I can understand why RM doesn't want people to harvest mailing addresses, but there must be better ways of enforcing this rule. After all, if you have several computers you can look up addresses ten times on each.

We have now got to the stage where we need to remember so many passwords that the whole system is flawed and seriously needs re-thinking in my view.
